Dental Sedation Will Help To Ease Your Fear And Anxiety

Have you ever put off a much-needed dental visit because of fear? Fear of visiting the dentist, officially known as dentophobia, is extremely common among dental patients of all ages, and it can have some serious consequences.

Regular dental visits are an essential step toward ensuring optimal health and wellbeing for a lifetime. By visiting Bay Area Dental & Implant Center for regular checkups, you’ll receive the best preventative dental care in San Jose, and we will also be able to identify and treat serious dental conditions before they lead to irreversible tooth damage.

At Bay Area Dental & Implant Center in San Jose, patient comfort and safety are our top priorities. We provide the highest standard of patient care, which includes a variety of sedation options to minimize pain and discomfort, and to help you to relax during your procedure.

In addition to the local anesthesia given to patients that are undergoing even the simplest dental procedures, we offer advanced anesthesia options to our patients, which are administered and monitored by our certified anesthesiologist.

Levels Of Dental Sedation Offered At Our San Jose Dental Office

We have the ideal anesthesia option available for every dental procedure, and each one is administered and continuously monitored during surgery by our certified anesthesiologist.

Oral Conscious Sedation

This dental sedation method uses Nitrous Oxide, or Laughing Gas, to provide a light level of sedation that helps to relax and calm the patient. There is another option to provide oral conscious sedation, which involves taking a pill one hour before your scheduled visit. When utilizing these methods of sedation, you will need someone to drive you to and from our San Jose office. These methods work well for patients that experience a mild amount of anxiety before a dental procedure.

IV Intravenous Sedation

Intravenous sedation is used for more complex procedures, such as wisdom teeth removal or sinus augmentation, although it can also be used for patients that have severe dental anxiety or high levels of fear. This method of sedation utilizes an IV to administer the medication directly into the patient’s bloodstream by our certified anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist will be present during the procedure for constant IV monitoring, and can easily administer additional medication if necessary.
